ODESSA, TX - Alternating between Greg George and DeAnthony Fay, Permian racked up several rushing yards, which were absent just one week ago.  George carried 12 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Fay added 98 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries en route to a Mojo 39-21 victory over the visiting Spanaway Bethel Braves.

Bethel (WA) Braves at Permian Panthers Preview Print E-mail

ODESSA - Tickets will go on sale Tuesday at the Ector County ISD athletic office for the interstate matchup between the Odessa Permian Panthers of Texas and Spanaway Bethel Braves of Washington state.  Advance tickets are $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.  They will be $8.00 at the stadium gates.  This will be the 2010 home opener for Mojo, and will feature a rare Thursday night showtime.

Smithson Valley 6, Permian 0 Print E-mail

SPRING BRANCH - Two storied football programs met in Ranger Stadium and fought to a 0-0 tie after a half of play. The Permian offense turned in a sluggish effort, while Smithson Valley worked their way into Panther territory on three occasions in the first half. The Mojo defense denied the Rangers on all three of those drives, two of which were inside the red zone. The Rangers mounted the only scoring drive of the game late in the third quarter, when Lawrence Mattison busted loose on a 20-yard touchdown run to give Smithson Valley a 6-0 lead. That lead would last the remainder of the game, as the Panthers dropped the season opener on Friday night.

Odessa Permian -vs- Smithson Valley Preview Print E-mail

ODESSA - Tickets went on sale today at the Ector County ISD athletic office for the much anticipated game between the Panthers and Rangers.  Permian will travel down the San Antonio way to clash with Smithson Valley on August 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Ranger Stadium.  The meeting will be the first time the two teams have met and the first non-district game for both teams.

Permian Standout Daryl Hunt Passes Print E-mail

HOUSTON - Daryl "Moose" Hunt was born on November 3, 1956 in Odessa and was a member of the 1972 Permian State Champion team.   Hunt played tight end on offense, but was better known for his linebacking abilities on the Mojo defense.  He passed Friday night from an apparent heart attack after jogging earlier in the evening.
