The Early 70s
Permian's first undefeated regular season was in 1970, when they lost in the state finals to Austin Reagan. The Class of 1971 will be remembered as the first class to successfully go through the full 12-year cycle since Permian's beginning in the fall of 1959. It was in 1972 that Gil Bartosh was named Football Coach of the Year. He guided the Boys of Mojo to an undefeated district season. Oh... we won the state championship.

After two weeks of disappointment, the Panthers proved they are not ready to written off just quite yet in 2012. Permian scored four second quarter touchdowns to claim ECISD bragging rights in a 45-6 Mojo dominated game in Ratliff Stadium on Friday night. The victory gave the Panthers a 1-0 District 2-5A record.

The game, if that's what you want to call it, was over by halftime. Odessa High versus Permian's JV White team would have been a more evenly matched contest. The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the first quarter on Jorrion Wilson's 9-yard touchdown run.

Midway through the second quarter, it was obvious why the Bronchos are now 0-3 for the season. PHS collected its first three scores on rushing touchdowns. Justin Hall made it to paydirt on a 5-yarder and Wilson collected his second TD in the game from five yards out. Dez Daniels hauled in a Jack Wilkins 60-yard pass to put the Panthers up 28-0, still in the second quarter. The defense returned an interception for another seven and Mojo led 35-0 at the intermission.

Wilkins completed his second TD pass, this time to Andrew Perez for 19 yards in the third quarter. Odessa High finally got on the scoreboard for its lone score late in the quarter on an 11-yard run by C.J. Eddison. Several backup Panthers received game minutes the remainder of the contest.
